About us

The Centre for Sports and Exercise Medicine is an integral part of the Bloomsbury Campus of the Division of Surgery and Interventional Science. We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and proactive researcher to work on a set of complementary projects investigating the interrelationships between adiposity, muscle strength and cardiorespiratory fitness. These projects will make use of phenotypic and genetic data from existing resources.

About the role

Develop plans of analysis, and carry out statistical analysis of data from relevant studies to address identified research questions. Prepare results for dissemination through papers and presentations. Undertake relevant literature searches and summarise the literature. Draft papers for publication and contribute to papers led by other colleagues.

Role specific details:
• This role is available from May 2024 for 2 years in the first instance.

About you

The post provides an exciting opportunity for a researcher who wants to apply and develop their analytic, interpretation and other research skills, while working on topics of major relevance for public health policy. The post-holder will primarily work on data from the British birth cohort studies, UK Biobank and ALSPAC carrying out longitudinal and genetic data analysis, management and cleaning, and preparation of research papers for publication. We are looking for a candidate with a PhD in a relevant discipline, such as epidemiology or applied medical statistics, and a background in data handling and quantitative analysis of large and complex longitudinal datasets.
