Applications are invited for the LunaNova Fellowship to join the Laboratory of Prof Simon Carding at Quadram Institute Bioscience (QIB), based in Norwich, UK.

Background:

We are seeking to appoint a talented and enthusiastic Postdoctoral Research Scientist with experience in cellular and molecular immunology to undertake an exciting project investigating premature ageing of the immune system in patients with myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS).

The role:

The LunaNova Fellow will be responsible for undertaking studies to characterise immune ageing phenotypes and presence of immune cell reactive microbes and microbial products in patient-derived samples. This includes developing new and existing protocols established at QIB, and in the laboratories of our collaborators at the Universidad Catolica de Valencia, Spain (UCV), and University of Birmingham, UK (UoB) that will be used to develop co-culture systems to investigate the impact of microbes/microbial products on immune cell ageing using multi-parameter deep single cell immune phenotyping and functional profiling.

The ideal candidate:

The ideal candidate should have a PhD in biological sciences/immunology/virology with practical experience of cellular and molecular immunology, and theoretical and/or practical experience of virology. The post holder will have a proven record in scientific writing, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Additional information:

Salary on appointment will be within the range £35,300 to £43,750 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. This is a full-time post for a contract of 24 months and provides an opportunity for the post holder to develop skills in human immunology, virology and the management/running of human clinical trials.
