Project description:

Applications are invited for NIHR School for a Primary Care Research studentship in primary health care from individuals with a strong academic record who wish to develop a career in primary care research.

In the 2021 Research Excellence Framework PCRC achieved the highest rating in our unit of assessment (UoA2) for outputs with a Grade Point Average of 3.71 and 94% considered as 'internationally excellent' or 'world leading'. Applicants must have a first degree in a discipline relevant to primary care research and will be expected to complete a PhD, usually full-time over 3 years, during the award period. The award offers traditional project-specific training in areas of particular importance to primary care and awarded to applicants from diverse backgrounds including e.g., medical statistics, social sciences, health economics, health psychology. The successful candidate is likely to have the following qualifications:

  • A degree, normally with at least class 2(i) or equivalent, in a subject relevant to primary care is essential and a relevant master's qualification or equivalent is desirable 

Funding information:

Due to funding restrictions this position is only open to UK applicants.  Full-time UK (home) PhD fees; students with overseas status are welcome to apply, overseas applicants will need to fund the remainder of their fees from alternative sources.  A stipend for a UK (home) of £18,622 per year for full-time study over 3 years and a contribution towards research and training costs.
