Canterbury Christ Church University is one of the fastest growing Universities in the UK. We are home to 25,000 students across three different campuses and several key collaborative partners in the UK and overseas. We have invested over £100M over the past decade in our facilities - and the most recent Graduate Outcomes survey puts us as the top university in the UK for graduates in employment.

Change and growth at this pace requires us to redesign our blueprint for student services and student administration, to deliver the best possible experience for service users, that is joined up, sustainable, and effective.

We therefore welcome applications for a newly created role of Executive Director of Academic & Student Services & Registrar. This is a chance for a ambitious person with a proven talent for service design, business process solutions, and continuous improvement, to make their mark in the sector by leading transformational change here.

Reporting to our PVC (Education and Student Experience), the successful candidate will enjoy significant autonomy in a supportive environment to lead a programme of change. Their goal? To create simple, consistent, and holistic solutions for academic and student services, and student administration that delivers great outcomes for our students and staff and are sustainable.

They will personally lead three Directorates (Student Resolution & Student Protection, Registry, and Quality & Standards) as well as influencing and joining up ways of working in student services and student administration across the whole university. This role therefore calls for both operational and strategic leadership qualities.

Since we need someone ready to hit the ground running, we seek proven experience of delivering customer-focussed service and business process design in a Higher Education context that has led to tangible and sustained improvement of outcomes. We need someone fluent in technical data-led solutions, and digital-first approaches who knows how to value and utilise subject matter experts while joining up processes holistically. They will have a comprehensive knowledge of the policy and regulatory context of Higher Education, with experience of delivering innovative approaches to policy, systems, and processes.

We are looking for an empathetic leader who has a positive, solution-focused outlook and who can engage and enthuse people to create buy-in for change.
