Applications are invited for a Head of Food & Nutrition National Biosciences Research Infrastructure (Head of F&N BRI) to join the Food and Nutrition programme at Quadram Institute Bioscience (QIB), based in Norwich, UK.

Background: 

Food & Nutrition NBRI is a vital national and international resource providing expertise and accurate data/ information essential for high-quality research on relationships between diet and health and delivery of key national strategic aims that support adoption of healthier and sustainable diets. 

Food & Nutrition NBRI acts as a national coordinating ‘hub’, actively engaging and collaborating nationally and internationally with strategic partners and research communities and informing government policy around diet and health. 

The role: 

This important senior role will provide leadership and vision for the Food & Nutrition National Biosciences Research Infrastructure (F&N BRI) to deliver the business plan and ensure data, training and other services are fully utilised and aligned to the research needs of Quadram Institute Bioscience and more widely across the bioscience community in the UK and internationally. 

The ideal candidate: 

Candidates should be educated to a degree level, or equivalent. Candidates with a master’s or PhD in an area of science would be advantageous but is not essential. The post holder will have a strong track record in food, nutrition, and health data (especially food composition and food intake), tools for researchers, industry, policy, and potential services for external users. They will also have a strong publication record and a proven track record for external, national, and international funding grants. 

The post holder will have strong leadership skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage, develop, and motivate staff. They will embrace change and effectively communicate vision to drive a culture of continuous improvement. 

Candidates should also have an established network of researchers, industry, and policy both in the UK and internationally. 

Additional information:

Salary on appointment will be within the range £68,670 to £86,000 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. This is a full-time post on an indefinite basis.

About the Quadram Institute: 

The Quadram Institute is a new interdisciplinary research institute dedicated to understanding how food and microbes interact to promote health and prevent disease. Its mission is to deliver healthier lives through innovation in gut health, microbiology and food. A partnership between Quadram Institute Bioscience, the University of East Anglia, the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and BBSRC, it brings together scientists and clinicians in a state-of-the-art building on the Norwich Research Park.
