Fixed term for two years

Full Time: 40 hours per week - Flexible Working Hours between 7am to 5pm Monday through Friday

An exciting opportunity to join industry leading Scottish Leather Group on a project as the KTP Associate on a Knowledge Transfer Partnership between Scottish Leather Group and the University of Northampton. It includes a £4k training budget and dedicated time for personal development.

The successful candidate will be employed by the University of Northampton and will be based at the company premises at Bridge of Weir, Scotland with regular travel to Northampton and other locations.

The project focuses on reducing the in-use carbon footprint of leather in aviation and electric vehicles. You will achieve this through the application and combination of a range of novel approaches to reduce overall leather weight, while still meeting strict specification requirements.

About you 

The Associate must have an interest and knowledge in the leather industry with excellent communication skills and ability to present and write technical reports, and the ability to record, process and analyse experimental data.

The Associate will lead the project and ensure that the expertise gained via the project will help produce leather to scale, manufactured using the innovation approaches developed.

This position forms part of the Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) funded by Innovate UK. It’s essential you understand how KTP works with the business and the University, and the vital role you will play if you successfully secure a KTP Associate position.

Qualifications 

Essential:

  • A first and/or second degree (s) in Leather Technology Chemistry; Biochemistry or related subject
