We are seeking to appoint an outstanding person with a significant proven track record to further develop our research activities in the area of electromagnetic inspection, eddy-current sensors and ground-penetrating radar (GPR) for environmental monitoring in polar climates. We are developing a new technology for the accurate measurement of sea ice thickness, in partnership with the British Antarctic Survey.

The Electromagnetic Sensing team, within which this role sits, are one of the leading international research groups focusing on Electromagnetic (EM) sensor systems. We have applied this research over a range of industrial, non-destructive testing, medical and security applications, with significant funding streams from UK research councils, EU, charity and industry. You will work within a well establshed, supportive team to deliver the objectives of the EPSRC funded A towable RF system for non-invasive sensing and measurement of Arctic sea ice Thickness (TRaNSMIT) project. You should be capable of working independently and collaborating both with the internal team and our external partners, so excellent communication and organisational skills are essential.
