Overview

We are seeking an accomplished Theatre and Events Technicians to join a large technical team within the School of Arts, Media & Creative Technology. Providing technical support primarily within the areas of theatre and live performance, they will play a key role in facilitating academic work as well as the fulfilment of the School’s artistic programme in and around the New Adelphi building. The role holder will work with students, colleagues and visiting companies/clients and will oversee the technical elements of a broad range of performances, rehearsals, student sessions and other live events.

This is a part-time (0.5 FTE), permanent role. Due to the nature of the work, the working pattern will be flexible and will include evenings and weekends, averaging 18 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate the technical elements of a range of events across live performance venues. This includes lighting, sound, projection, visual effects, rigging and set building.
  • Work with staff, students and external clients to ascertain their needs and support their use of technical resources.
  • Maintain professional facilities and equipment, ensuring that resources remain available for use and are in safe working order, and assisting colleagues with repairs and replacement where necessary.
  • Be responsible for the supervision and security of performance spaces and equipment.
  • Ensure the provision of excellent, relevant and timely service to all clients
