We are now looking for an Executive Systems Development Officer to join our team on a Full time, permanent basis, working 37 hours per week.

THE ROLE

As an Executive Systems Development Officer, you will have a crucial role in leading and managing a team of software developers and business analysts who are responsible for creating and maintaining software applications and systems for the university. Your role will involve providing technical expertise, guidance, and support to ensure that software projects are successfully completed in line with the university's goals and requirements.

The post holder will need to embrace Agile principles and guide the team to deliver working software frequently, in continuous delivery cycles. The objective is to improve the experience for applicants, students, and staff by creating user-friendly interfaces with efficient workflows. This will require regular communication with colleagues and stakeholders to understand their evolving needs and develop targeted software solutions.

This role is a senior position within the IT Systems and Infrastructure team, and as such, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire development process, providing technical expertise, and ensuring the team's productivity and efficiency.

ABOUT YOU

To be considered as an Executive Systems Development Officer, you will need:

  • Degree or equivalent professional qualification or extensive experience in a relevant subject area
  • Demonstrable experience of software development
  • Previous experience in leading a team of technical resources
  • Excellent knowledge of database technologies, SQL, and other programming languages
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Ability to demonstrate effective organisational skills
  • Ability to apply attention to detail
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines

It would also be beneficial if you have:

  • Accreditation in specific technology areas or another equivalent award
  • Knowledge of Microsoft .NET programming
  • FE/HE Tribal SITS student record systems
  • Experience in Agile Scrum workload management
  • Ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh – oral and written
