Job Summary

Applications are invited for postdoctoral research position within the Computational Cardiac Imaging Group, led by Prof Declan O’Regan. We are seeking a talented scientist with a background in mathematics or computer science with previous experience in cardiac image segmentation and motion analysis.  

This post is part of a 4-year NIH program in a partnership between Imperial College London and Brigham and Women’s Hospital using machine learning to understand mechanisms and outcomes in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. This disease is a leading cause of sudden death in adults and this program aims to develop a better understanding of which patients are most at risk.

Duties and Responsibilities

You will have an opportunity to work in a diverse team that brings together clinicians, mathematicians and geneticists to work on problems that are key to human health. There are excellent opportunities for development and training – including working part-time at the new Imperial-X centre for transformational innovation in AI. The post holder will have the opportunity to liaise with an extensive network of collaborators, attend scientific conferences, and publish the results of their work in leading journals.

Essential requirements:

  • A PhD in Mathematics, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline
  • Expertise in coding Python, using DL libraries, and algorithm development
  • Broad knowledge of ML architectures for classification and prediction tasks

Further Information:

This is a full time, fixed term role until 31st Augst 2025 based at Hammersmith Campus (East Acton).

Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as a Research Assistant within the salary range £40,694 - £43,888 per annum.
