Project Description:

Approximately only half of children and young people meet Physical Activity (PA) guidelines. Being active is important for an individual’s health, wellbeing and development, and lack of PA in children and young people is a major concern for public health. The aim of this PhD programme is to develop an intervention that supports and enables PA in children and young people who are at risk of having low PA levels. The project will involve analysing data from the Oxwell student survey to identify potential targets for the intervention and working with stakeholders to ensure the intervention being developed meets their needs.

Consequently, this PhD offers an excellent opportunity to acquire experience and expertise in various research skills, methodologies and frameworks. It is particularly suited for those interested in working with data and developing statistical skills and synthesising information from different sources, and, most importantly, wanting to contribute to improving the health and wellbeing of children and young people. We are seeking someone who will participate and contribute to the multidisciplinary and dynamic research teams they will be working with and receiving support from.
