The UCL Division of Surgery and Interventional Science is a collaborative and cross-disciplinary environment where clinicians, engineers, allied health professionals and researchers are constantly striving for innovative approaches to treatment. The post holder will be based at our Royal Free campus but travel to our Bloomsbury and Stanmore campuses may be required. The Division of Surgery and Interventioanl Science ia an exciting and dynamic environment and this post provides an excellent opportunity for the right applicant to develop and expand on a laboratory based career. At our Royal Free campus we currently have a lab support team of three technicians and one lab manager.

About the role

An individual is sought for this full-time post, based in the Division of Surgery and Interventional Science Laboratories. In particular, someone with the skills, knowledge and ability to provide our students with training, teaching and support for the use of Confocal, SEM and TEM microscope, as well as the provision of teaching, training and support with respect to histology techniques and general sample preparation.

The successful candidate will assist with the maintenance and running of the imaging and characterization suite to an excellent standard and ensure that all health and safety regulations are complied with.


• This role is available from March 2024 and its an open-ended contract .
Eligible applicants will have until 6th March to be considered for this role.

About you

The post holder must have good general education to BSc, MSc levels or equivalent or having acquired substantial relevant experience.
Experience of handling and preparing biological samples for analysis and imaging.
Experience of operating and maintaining research equipment (ideally this would include experience of operating and managing SEM, TEM).
The successful candidate must also have training and background in health and safety relating to laboratories in the biomedical sciences area.
