The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE) is a world leading botanical institute and international visitor attraction taking positive action for plants and people; from local communities across Scotland, to more than 40 countries around the world. Our priority is to tackle the biodiversity crisis and the climate emergency and support the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity. Our work builds on our more than 350-year history as a scientific botanic garden, a centre of excellence for education, the internationally important botanical collections in our care, and our extensive international partnerships.

Following a recent restructure we are now seeking a Head of Biodiversity Education and Training to work with our new Director of Learning and Engagement to build capacity to conserve biodiversity on a global scale.

You will lead the development of a new Biodiversity Skills Centre, leveraging opportunities associated with an enhanced policy focus on climate change and biodiversity loss, sustainable development, health and wellbeing, the green recovery and a nature-rich economy. At the same time supporting the growth of Scotland’s international profile as a world leading centre for education and training.

This is a key post in RBGE’s senior leadership team and will be critical to our future success. Applicants should have demonstrable experience in leadership and management, the development and maintenance of strategic partnerships within academia and industry, and  a strong track record of delivering a range of high quality education and training products to multi-cultural audiences within the field of conservation or similar.
