Job description

The King’s community is dedicated to the service of society. King’s Strategic Vision 2029 sets out our vision for the future, shaped around five priority areas: educate to inspire and improve; research to inform and innovate; serve to shape and transform; a civic university at the heart of London; and an international community that serves the world. Our Education Strategy sets out the actions that we must take to transform how we teach, how and where our students learn and how we support them during their time with us.

King’s Academy is the centre for educational development dedicated to supporting all staff in enhancing the teaching and learning environment within the University.

King’s Academy is expanding its range of activities and the role of the Communication and Events Manager, who will manage our internal and external communications, will be instrumental in shaping how King’s Academy is positioned and made visible to the wider community.

At King's Academy, our mission is to foster a vibrant and progressive academic culture across the University, in partnership with faculties and through our collaborative relationships with staff, students and external partners. We strive to enhance and develop the potential of all educators and professional services colleagues who support education - from early-career to experienced faculty and those in leadership roles - through structured professional development, mentorship, and evidence-informed practices.

The role

The role will focus on managing communications for King’s Academy as well as supporting adhoc activities and events.

The Communication Manager will work closely with King’s Academy but will also be supported with a dotted line to a manager within the King’s Central Communication Team and be part of the wider Communication Network.

The role is primarily based at King’s Strand Campus though you will also have the flexibility to work from other Campuses, and we have additional space available on the Waterloo Campus.

As part of King’s hybrid working policy, all team members can work remotely for up to 40% of the week if they wish and at peak times of activity. The King’s Academy team are generally expected to work up to three days on Campus, however we will be happy to consider flexible working approaches as needed.

This post will be offered on an indefinite contract.
