Lecturer (Teaching and Research) for the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC), Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC), Medical Research Council (MRC) OneZoo Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Environmental Drivers and Solutions for Zoonoses

In October 2023 we recruited our first cohort of researchers joining the Centre for Doctoral Training in Environmental Drivers and Solutions for Zoonoses (OneZoo CDT) (2nd intake October 2024 and 3rd intake October 2025). This transdisciplinary OneZoo CDT will equip the next generation of world-leading scientists with the skills and insight necessary to tackle current and future zoonotic threats. To design successful, innovative environmental prevention and control strategies, zoonotic drivers need to be understood through an integrated systems approach. Our students will build an in-depth understanding of the connectivity between key drivers of pathogen host shifts, spillover and onward transmission; exploring pathogen, environmental and human societal processes that can promote zoonotic disease and form the basis of integrated solutions. Our award-winning educators and experts in zoonotic diseases and environmental sciences, from Cardiff University, Aberystwyth University, Queen’s University Belfast, and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, will work collectively, fostering creation of the CDT research community, and empowering students to develop their own training to acquire strong employability skills.

A position is available for a Lecturer (Teaching and Research) to work on the OneZoo project, the successful candidate will need a postgraduate degree at PhD level in a related subject area or relevant industrial experience, a Postgraduate Certificate in University Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification or experience and an established expertise and proven portfolio of research and/or relevant industrial experience within the following research fields: Infectious Diseases and Environmental Drivers of, and Sustainable Solutions, for Zoonotic Infections.

Salary: £49,794 - £54,395 per annum (Grade 7). Appointments to roles at Cardiff University are usually made at bottom of scale unless in exceptional circumstances.
