The role 

NU London wishes to appoint a Lecturer in Accounting & Finance, though a specialist in Accounting is preferred. Preference may be given to candidates with active interests in the relationship of Accounting and Finance to one or more of the following areas: fintech; sustainability and responsible investing; employment contexts.

Teaching competency in Financial Accounting & Reporting to at least Level 4 is required and teaching competency in core Finance courses to Level 5 is desirable (Level 4 and 5 are 1st and 2nd year undergraduate respectively).  

Core duties will include teaching on a range of courses and service to the institution. The courses offered in this subject area in 2024-25 will include Financial Accounting & Reporting (L4), Finance I (financial markets), and Finance II (corporate finance) (L6), as well as new courses including Managerial Accounting (L5) and Financial Management (L5), Corporate Finance (L6), and Fintech and Financial Innovation (L6).

Person Specification

To excel in this role, you will have the following skills and experience, or transferable skills.

  • PhD completed, or near completion (all but dissertation), or equivalent professional experience, in a relevant area.
  • A teaching qualification (FHEA or equivalent).
  • Can demonstrates, through evidence, excellent ability so as to be adaptable, innovative, and inclusive in the role as advertised with regards to teaching and service.
  • Teaching competency in Financial Accounting & Reporting to at least Level 4 (1st year undergraduate). Teaching competency in core Finance courses to Level 5 is desirable.

Salary Comment: A range of fractions up to 1.0FTE may be available. 6-12 months, fixed term. At least 2 days per week required for teaching availability (in person). Consideration will be given for a higher salary for an exceptional candidate in this subject area.

We are hoping to move to a timetable where Wednesday afternoon’s are available for student clubs/ activities and staff CPD.
