Nelson College London (NCL) is seeking a dedicated Principal to provide visionary leadership and management, ensuring the delivery of high-quality education to our diverse student body. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the successful candidate will spearhead the strategic direction of the college, fostering an environment conducive to academic excellence and institutional success.
The Principal of Nelson College London (NCL) shall operate under the guidance of the Board of Directors in executing a multitude of pivotal tasks. They are expected to contribute to the development and implementation of strategic plans aligned with the College’s mission of widening access. This entails establishing and maintaining appropriate systems, policies, procedures, and plans to attain strategic objectives and key performance indicators.
Furthermore, the Principal is tasked with facilitating strategic decision-making and overseeing the review of college strategies and policies to ensure their continued relevance and effectiveness. Serving as the academic leader of the College, the Principal is entrusted with ensuring that academic governance is robust, transparent, accountable, and effective. This encompasses the development and administration of internal academic review processes, upholding academic standards, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering constructive relationships with regulatory bodies.
Additionally, the Principal is responsible for proposing and updating educational strategies to the Board of Governance and Board of Directors, thus propelling the vision and mission of NCL forward. Diligently maintaining academic accreditations, affiliations, and partnerships is also integral to the role, fostering a network that bolsters the institution's academic reputation and collaboration opportunities.
Additionally, in their capacity as an academic leader, Moreover, the Principal will spearhead the College's efforts to acquire its own degree awarding powers in the forthcoming years and adeptly oversee the probationary period to ensure success. The Principal is tasked with offering guidance and support to senior managers, staff, and students, particularly concerning New Degree Awarding Powers (DAPs) applications. These applications necessitate the College to establish and uphold its own academic standards.
Ultimately, the Principal must undertake these responsibilities and any other duties with unwavering dedication and diligence to ensure the continual success and advancement of NCL.
