Residence Life Supervisor (RLS)

Boston University Study Abroad London

Live-in (SW7/WC1E) Fixed-term: From May 2024 to August 2024 (available to extend)

£740 per month (live-in)

3 positions currently available

We currently have opportunities to add to our live-in Residence Life Supervisor team. Successful applicants will be assigned to either our BU London: Kensington residences or BU London: Bloomsbury. The RLS helps to support our undergraduate students in university housing for the academic semester. We usually have over 300 students each semester, and the RLS team support students at nights and weekends to help staff ensure the safe and professional running of the programme.

The Residence Life Supervisor is usually part of a small team of 9-11 RLSs that cover our four residential buildings and it is essential that this team works together as a close-knit unit, both for backup and support to students. The RLS team are the first point of contact for students and act as the backbone of the on-call emergency team. They work closely with: students, the maintenance and housekeeping teams, security and the Student Affairs staff. As the first point of contact every RLS should be able to respond well in difficult and emergency situations and have the patience to deal with more minor, but sometimes challenging, demands.

The RLS will be part of the on-call team which provides out of hours support on a 7-day basis when students are in residence and will be expected to be available during evenings and weekends on a pre agreed rota basis. The RLS role is part time, so allows flexible working where you may have additional employment or are studying elsewhere on weekdays during the daytime.

You will need recent experience of a similar role, and to be good at communicating with students and creating a welcoming atmosphere whilst being able to maintain discipline. You should demonstrate a mature approach and the ability to make sound judgements, and you will be required to understand and abide by our current rules and codes of conduct.

You will receive a competitive salary for your variable hours, and full training will be provided. You must have the unrestricted right to work in the UK, without a limitation on working hours.

To apply, please send your 2-page CV with a covering letter of your suitability for the role to Meg Cullen via the 'Apply' button above. Application deadline will be end of day on Thursday 14th March. We will be holding interviews on Tuesday 19th March and Wednesday 20th March. Applications will be reviewed as they are submitted so you are therefore encouraged to apply early. Candidates invited to interview will have been contacted by 15th March.

Please let us know within your application if you are unable to attend in person, or on the scheduled interview dates for us to try to accommodate alternative arrangements.

Successful candidates may be able to move in from early May 2024, however must be available to start on or before 15th May.
