The Department of Health Sciences is a busy and proactive environment with high quality undergraduate and postgraduate education and world-leading research in Global Public Health, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Social Work. Our purpose is to support excellence in health and social care, locally and internationally, through our undergraduate and postgraduate educational provision, research and innovation.

We are looking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Administrator to support the smooth running of this friendly, hard-working and growing department. Reporting directly to the Head of Department and working closely with the Department leadership team, you will provide day-to-day support in this varied role, with the two Department Administrators in the team as the key focal point for academic staff across their activities. This will include monitoring financial spend against budgets; leading on procurement and processing of invoices; overseeing and coordinating recruitment for academic posts from approval stage through to interview and induction; implementation of new processes and procedures from both College and University directives; booking of staff travel; monitoring co-ordination of the delivery of events including catering, room booking, registration etc. You will also be involved in diary management for the Head of Department in their day-to-day diary management and administrative tasks including servicing Department level meetings. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be able to demonstrate your organisational and problem-solving abilities. You should be able to demonstrate your ability to lead and work within a small team and on your own initiative.

Your pro-active involvement and solution-focused approach will enable the Head of Department and academic colleagues to concentrate on their core commitments to education, research and innovation.

We offer a generous annual leave package plus discretionary University closure days, excellent training and development opportunities as well as a great occupational pension scheme and a range of health-related support. The University is committed to a hybrid working approach.

Closing date for applications: 10 March 2024

Interviews will take place on 20 March 2024 in person
