The KTP associate will undertake a 12 month program of work to develop AI/ML assisted corrosion mapping capabilities using Novosound’s patented technology, the Ceilidh. The candidate will collaborate with and support Novosound staff to embed AI/ML capabilities within the team and explore further development opportunities across Novosound.

FTE: 1 (37.5 hours/week)

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics in partnership with Novosound (https://www.novosound.net) are seeking to appoint a KTP Associate to lead the development of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) techniques for application to guided wave corrosion monitoring in pipes. The post will be predominantly based at Novosound’s premises in Newhouse with visits to the University of Strathclyde campus.

Novosound is an award-winning Scottish sensors company utilising thin-film processes to eliminate conventional limitations in ultrasound sensors, with application throughout the wearables, medical and industrial domains. Novosound are looking to expand their capabilities in the AI/ML space to provide their customers with bespoke, cutting-edge solutions to ultrasonic inspection challenges. The successful candidate will be charged with developing this capability initially in the context of corrosion monitoring in industrial infrastructure.
