University of Cambridge - Office of the School of Clinical Medicine

Location: Cambridge
Salary: Clinical Salary Scale
Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Fixed-Term/Contract
Placed On: 23rd February 2024
Closes: 10th March 2024
Job Ref: RA40649

The Clinical Sub-Dean for Quality is a new post, which is being set up to improve and harmonise internal and external quality assurance processes for the Cambridge Clinical Course.  Currently, primary care placements, secondary care placements and central teaching have a range of QA processes, which vary into how well they feed into the central Quality Committee.  It is essential that QA processes are transparent, easy-to-use and have a robust structure so that course leadership are well-sighted as to the quality of all areas of the course, and become aware of problems which need action.  The post-holder will lead a review of processes and, if needed, develop clearer and more effective processes, with central documentation.

The role is based in the Education Division Offices of the Clinical School and attracts 2PA of funding, to be paid as a secondment from the postholder's NHS post. The Candidates should be employed by an NHS Trust or GP Practice within the region where Cambridge sends our students for placements. Candidates who are employed by a different organization, or who are self-employed or retired, should contact the Clinical School to discuss the feasibility of other options for appointment. All candidates for the post should hold full GMC registration and a license to practice.  The postholder will be supported by a full-time QA administrator.  This is a three-year secondment, with the possibility of renewal for further three years thereafter, dependent on the availability of funding.

All candidates for the post should hold full GMC registration and a license to practice.

The postholder will report to the Clinical Dean.  For further information, interested candidates should contact Prof Paul Wilkinson, Clinical Dean, on clinical.dean@medschl.cam.ac.uk.

Fixed-term: 3 years.

This appointment requires an Honorary Clinical Contract.

The post is offered to candidates only on the basis of a secondment from their current role in the University.
