About the role
As Professor of International Law, your principal role will be to support and direct the work of the International Justice and Human Rights Centre (IJHRC). There is currently a small team of researchers in this field, and our ambition is to scale up the activities of the centre, through collaborative projects and securing research grant funding. Members of the IJHRC enjoy a number of existing partnerships, including working on funded co-operative international law projects with scholars from Ukraine. Other specialist areas of expertise in the Centre include international peace and security, the use of force, refugee law, and UN peacekeeping.
You will be expected to engage in sole and joint bids for research funding to support your research activities and those of the IJHRC. The role will also involve forging new relationships and networks with groups of international law scholars to promote the research activities of Edge Hill University. You will also be expected to mentor junior colleagues on their research journeys, and play an active role in developing our research culture and environment at the School.
You will also contribute to teaching on our LLB programmes, in particular in the international law field, and assume any reasonable administrative duties commensurate with the role of Professor.
You will receive a generous research allowance of approximately 50 percent of your time.
