About the role

Research To carry out vigorous, high-level research into the spectral theory of periodic and almost periodic operators with defects, especially features of the spectral theory at high energy. To interface with other team members, and full participation in seminars and colloquia in the subject. To submit publications regularly in refereed journals and participating in national and international conferences. Teaching The post involves no compulsory teaching duties, but as part of their professional development the Research Fellow may be offered the opportunity to take on teaching and/or supervision responsibilities appropriate to their experience. Management and Administration Comply with institutional and departmental policies on Fire and Health & Safety Regulations, Equal Opportunities, and other matters. To undertake administrative duties in line with the post. As duties and responsibilities change, the job description will be reviewed and amended in consultation with the post tholder. The postholder will be responsible directly to Leonid Parnovski.

About you

Essential Candidates should either have a PhD or equivalent qualification in mathematics, should be finalising their PhD or waiting for their viva date. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in research and publishing and will have excellent grasp of analysis and geometry. Additionally, the successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills to facilitate participation in a research group. The successful candidate will have a strong desire to work at the heart of, and fully participate in, an active research group in the field with excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Desirable Research experience in analysis and geometry, especially in spectral and scattering theory . We particularly welcome female applicants and those from an ethnic minority, as they are under-represented within UCL at this level.
