Clinical Educator

University of Buckingham - University of Buckingham Medical School (Buckingham Campus)

Location: Buckingham
Salary: £41,581 (FTE) Full time equivalent (0.4-0.8 FTE options available)
Hours: Full Time, Part Time
Contract Type: Permanent
Placed On: 29th February 2024
Closes: 29th April 2024

The University of Buckingham has a unique atmosphere, unlike that of any other higher educational institution. Despite being one of the UK’s smallest universities and the only independent university to hold a Royal Charter, Buckingham has staff from over 60 countries, making it a truly distinctive work environment.  Our size enables us to foster a very personalised, supportive, inclusive and collaborative environment, with lots of opportunity for development.

The university is keen to build on its strengths to further enhance the teaching and research culture and is looking for a candidate who shares similar knowledge and research exchange ambitions and is keen to make a notable contribution. By joining our passionate and active team, the candidate can expect excellent support in their teaching, research, knowledge exchange and scholarly activity.

This role allows Clinical Educators to explore the world of teaching in undergraduate medicine. It is a fantastic opportunity to gain a solid foundation in all aspects of formal teaching for first- and second-year medical students and can be on a part time basis, accompanying any clinical roles held by the candidate. Those who work three days or more for a year, also qualify for being fully funded to undertake a Post Graduate Certificate in Medical Education which wonderfully complements this role.

The candidate must have completed the UK Foundation programme, have a right to work in the UK and be GMC registered. The candidate should have a portfolio that enables them to demonstrate their skills and knowledge. Professional qualifications such as a recognised Higher Education teaching qualification or Higher Education Academy Fellowship would be advantageous.

We know that sometimes people can be put off applying for a job if they think they can’t tick every box, but we are invested in our people and their development, so we encourage you to apply if you believe you have the majority of the skills and experience required and are keen to develop further!

What can we offer you?

We might be small, but we can still offer plenty of perks!  In addition to an Aviva Pension scheme, we offer:

  • Beautiful working environments across our campuses, with plenty of space
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Christmas closure
  • On-site gym and exercise classes
  • On-site catering facilities
  • University bookshop with staff discount (Buckingham)
  • Free access to LinkedIn Learning courses
  • Free on-site parking
  • Excellent opportunities to network and continue learning across a variety of departments

Informal enquiries may be made to Louise Rogers and Mia Lyon at atf@buckingham.ac.uk.

Applications will close when the required number of Clinical Educators have been recruited. Interviews will be held throughout the year.

Please note: if successful, any offer is subject to standard checks, including qualifications, eligibility to work in the UK on a permanent basis and DBS (if applicable).
