We have an exciting opportunity in the School of Medicine and Population Health for a Research Associate position, which is perfect for a researcher with a passion for driving biological discoveries through to development of new cancer therapeutics. It is ideally suited to an enthusiastic researcher looking to use their skills in cancer biology, bone biology, cancer cell dormancy, translational research and relevant fields who want to have an impact on patients with incurable cancers that grow in bone.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated researcher to work on a Blood Cancer UK funded grant. The project is investigating a new drug, Karonudib, in the treatment of myeloma. You will test Karonudib in combination with other drugs in myeloma mouse models and patient cells and identify biomarkers of sensitivity and resistance using a genome-wide CRISPR screen. This will guide progression of ongoing phase I clinical trials to phase II. You will be based at The University of Sheffield and work with international collaborators at the Karolinska Institute and industrial partners Oxcia AB.

You should have a PhD or be close to completion in relevant biomedical fields (molecular or cell biology, cancer biology, bone biology) or have equivalent experience. You will be a highly motivated and hard-working with the ability to design, perform and analyse experiments with attention to detail integrity. In particular, the ability to independently manage complex mouse studies is essential. You will communicate your findings with the group, at scientific meetings and through preparation of scientific publications. Excellent communication skills, written and oral, and the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team, are essential.

The post is fixed term until 31st July 2026.
