Project description: 

This 4-year PhD position, part of the STRIPS Project at Swansea University, offers a unique opportunity to delve into the device operating physics of mesoporous carbon perovskite solar cells. The project will focus on using optoelectronic perturbation techniques such as transient photovoltage decay and impedance spectroscopy to probe the fundamental aspects of these innovative solar cells.

You will join a dynamic doctoral cohort comprising 4-6 PhD students across 5 research groups, all commencing in 2024. This setup fosters a collaborative and interdisciplinary research environment, enabling you to work closely with peers and experts within Swansea University and across the UK.

Your research will contribute to the understanding of mesoporous carbon perovskite solar cells, aiming to enhance their efficiency and operational understanding. This project is not only about advancing the scientific knowledge in the field but also about contributing to sustainable and renewable energy solutions.

Eligibility

Candidates must hold an undergraduate degree at 2.1 level in Engineering or similar relevant science discipline. If you are eligible to apply for the scholarship (i.e. a student who is eligible to pay the UK rate of tuition fees) but do not hold a UK degree, you can check our comparison entry requirements. Please note that you may need to provide evidence of your English Language proficiency.

Due to funding restrictions, this scholarship is open to applicants eligible to pay tuition fees at the UK rate only, as defined by UKCISA regulations.

Additional Funding Information

This scholarship covers the full cost of UK tuition fees and an annual stipend at UKRI rate (currently £18,622 for 2023/24) for four years.,

Additional research expenses will also be available.
