About us

This position is based in the UCL School of Pharmacy in the research department of Pharmaceutics. The UCL School of Pharmacy is one of the Divisions located within the Faculty of Life Sciences (FLS) and is one of five areas that constitute the Faculty, the others being Biosciences, the MRC Laboratory for Molecular Cell Biology at UCL, the Sainsbury Wellcome Centre for Neurocircuits and Behaviour and the Gatsby Computational Neuroscience Unit.

About the role

We are looking to recruit a Research Fellow Grade 7 or a Research Assistant Grade 6B dependant on experience. This is a fixed-term appointment from 1/05/2024 – 30/06/2025 in the first instance. Salary is also dependant on experience and upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at Grade 6B with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD Thesis. The succesful candidate will join our group to investigate the delivery of actives to the skin and to probe the barrier function of mammalian skin. This multi-disciplinary project will involve the use of advanced topical formulation development, non-linear data modelling, Confocal Raman Spectroscopic (CRS) analyses and chemometric analysis. This role meets the eligibility requirements for a skilled worker certificate of sponsorship or a global talent visa under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore, UCL welcomes app lications from international applicants who require a visa. We will consider applications to work on a part-time, flexible and job share basis wherever possible, however, this role is not eligible for hybrid working. About you

Applicants for the Research Fellow position must have a degree in pharmaceutical sciences and hold a PhD in the area of pharmaceutical formulation. In addition, the successful candidate is expected to have knowledge and experience of spectroscopic techniques relevant for skin characterisation in vivo including Near Infra Red and Confocal Raman spectroscopy.
