Job Summary
General practitioners who have gained their CCT are invited to apply for the post of Clinical Teaching Fellow in Primary Care within the multi-award winning Undergraduate Primary Care Education Unit, one of the UK’s largest teams of its kind with an exemplary national reputation for curricular innovation in the Department of Primary Care and Public Health, within the School of Public Health of Imperial College London. The Unit oversees all the primary care placements in Phases 1 and 3 of the MBBS programme at Imperial College London.
This is an exciting postgraduate training opportunity for those interested in developing a career in medical education to develop their skills as primary care medical educators. At the end of the post, the post holder will have gained a wide range of educational experience and skills which will equip them to move on to further medical education roles.
Duties and Responsibilities
Members of the Undergraduate Primary Care Education Unit teach and assess in 5 of the 6 years of the Undergraduate MBBS course.
The post has been created to allow GPs interested in medical education to participate in a 2-year programme to develop their skills as medical educators. The post offers opportunities to undertake training both in the specific placements and assessments undertaken by the Unit, but also more widely in medical education and assessment. There may be opportunities to develop academic work for presentation and publication and to apply for a higher qualification through Imperial’s Education Development Unit (EDU).
