The role will combine a mixture of homeworking and attending campus (usually once per week).  Therefore, you will need to be within commutable distance of one of our UK campuses with an Assessment Office; Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, London, and Manchester.

As our student numbers increase and we continue to diversify our programmes and portfolio, we are looking for a high-calibre individual to join our centralised Assessment Office department as a Head of Operations (Assessment Planning).

As our Head of Operations, you will be responsible for delivering an exceptional student assessment experience with reporting teams leading and shaping the assessment planning activity across all ULaw assessments, and delivering all the Business, Science & Professional Development assessment activity. You will be offering leadership to a recently formed, and multi-sited, matrix team and will be developing immediate response and long-term operational plans with a view to enhance student and staff experience. You will play a significant role in the development and deployment of the department wide strategy, leading change implementation and process improvements across the University.

The role requires exceptional people leadership skills, with an ability to lead and develop through reporting lines. You will be strategically focussed, proactive, comfortable in influencing change and seeking solutions to challenges.

As our Head of Operations (Assessment Planning), you will:

  • Deliver an exceptional student assessment journey across all campuses, UK and overseas
  • Support, coach, and motivate a growing team of Assessment Officers through to Assessment Managers
  • Lead business change projects which will include influencing others and networking across the wider university
  • Be strategically focussed to ensure delivery of exceptional service to our students
  • Support a culture of continuous improvement and develop meaningful actions to ensure improvements are put into action

We are looking for people who are/have:

  • Exceptional people management and leadership skills
  • Excellent planning, prioritisation skills with a proactive approach
  • Substantial experience in a management/leadership role either within the education sector or a large complex organisation specifically focused on service delivery and continuous change
  • Experience of working within a multifunctional/multisite matrix environment
  • A forward thinking who is confident in shaping and influencing change
