Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Scientist position in the laboratory of Dr Ramanujan Hegde at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB). The role is to work within a programme aimed at understanding the molecular mechanisms of protein maturation, quality control, and protein misfolding diseases. Specifically, to undertake research to investigate the mechanistic basis of membrane protein insertion and assembly.
You should have a PhD in a subject relevant to the envisioned project such as cell biology, particularly in the area of organelle biology, or be due to complete a PhD within 6 months. Experience of having worked with mammalian cell culture, analysis of cellular organelles, and genetic manipulation of mammalian cells and an in-depth knowledge of the biology of the endoplasmic reticulum is required. Experience in core methods of cell biology in biochemistry including: microscopy, flow cytometry, protein analysis, basic biochemistry, protein purification, and molecular biology is important as is experience in in vitro reconstitution methods, use of radioactivity, and in vitro translation.
