Academic Registrar (Quality and Standards)

About Us:

UKMC is an institution dedicated to providing high-quality education and fostering academic excellence. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Academic Registrar (Quality and Standards) to oversee the approval, monitoring, and quality assurance of all academic programs within the college, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, including those set by the Office for Students (OfS).

Role Overview:

The Academic Registrar (Quality and Standards) will be responsible for leading the oversight, approval, and monitoring of academic programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and maintaining high standards of quality and excellence in teaching and learning. This role will have organizational responsibility for monitoring institutional student outcomes related to the OfS Condition B3 metrics.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversight and Approval of Academic Programs:

  • Lead the review and approval process for all new academic programs and modifications to existing programs, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and institutional policies.
  • Collaborate with academic departments and external stakeholders to ensure that academic programs meet the needs of students, employers, and regulatory bodies.

Quality Assurance and Monitoring:

  • Develop and implement robust quality assurance processes and procedures to monitor the delivery and assessment of academic programs.
  • Conduct regular reviews and evaluations of academic programs to ensure compliance with quality standards and best practices in higher education.

Compliance with Regulatory Requirements:

  • Stay abreast of regulatory requirements, including those set by the Office for Students (OfS), and ensure that academic programs comply with relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and accreditation agencies to facilitate compliance reviews and audits. 

Monitoring Institutional Student Outcomes:

  • Develop and implement strategies to monitor institutional student outcomes related to the OfS Condition B3 metrics, including retention, attainment, and progression.
  • Analyze data and trends related to student outcomes to identify areas for improvement and implement targeted interventions as needed. 

Policy Development and Implementation:

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures related to academic quality and standards, ensuring consistency and compliance across the institution.
  • Provide guidance and support to academic departments and faculty members on matters related to academic quality assurance and standards.

Stakeholder Engagement and Communication:

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including academic staff, students, and regulatory bodies, to promote a culture of academic excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to disseminate information, gather feedback, and address concerns related to academic quality and standards. 

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or higher in a relevant field.
  • Extensive experience in academic administration, quality assurance, or a related field in higher education.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and quality assurance frameworks, particularly those relevant to higher education in the UK.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify trends related to academic quality and standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to lead and motivate teams in a collaborative and dynamic environment.
