About the Role

We seek an experienced Postdoctoral Research Assistant in cellular and molecular biology in a project supervised by Prof Costantino Pitzalis in the Centre for Experimental Medicine & Rheumatology (EMR) at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL). The post is funded by Versus Arthritis and aims to accelerate the development of new treatment for multidrug resistant “refractory” Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) patients.

About You

The position will suit a candidate with a background in immunology. Experience in cell culture and molecular biology is essential. The successful candidate is expected to collaborate with other researchers involved in the project, take initiative, contribute to writing and publishing high quality manuscripts.

About the Centre

You will join a 60 strong research team of scientists and clinicians dedicated to understanding the disease pathogenesis and improve the treatment of several musculoskeletal diseases including Rheumatoid Arthritis, Sjogren’s syndrome and Osteoarthritis at the Centre for Experimental Medicine & Rheumatology (EMR). EMR is part of the newly awarded Biomedical Research Centre (BRC).  The Centre is located at the Charterhouse square campus in the heart of the City of London in close proximity to the Barbican Arts and Music Centre.

The post is based at the Charterhouse Square Campus in London. It is full-time (35 hours per week) and on a fixed term appointment for 24 months, with a provisional start date is April 2024, but negotiable depending on the candidate’s current employment status. The starting salary will be Grade 4, in the range of £40,223 - £44,722 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
