The Department of Irish and Celtic Languages in the School of Languages, Literatures and Cultural Studies at Trinity College Dublin welcomes applications for a tenure track post as Assistant Professor in Early Irish.

The successful candidate will be a specialist in Early Irish language and texts and will have a PhD in Early Irish, excellent spoken and written Irish, relevant teaching experience and a publication track-record appropriate to an appointment at this level.

The successful candidate will be able to teach undergraduate and postgraduate modules in Early Irish, particularly in the language of Old Irish and Middle Irish, and will be able and willing to teach a variety of other modules.

Post Title: Assistant Professor in Early Irish

Post status: Five Year Fixed Term, Tenure Track

  • A research plan (summarising research to be carried out in the next three years and including details of funding to be sought – 2 pages max.)
  • A teaching statement (summarising teaching philosophy, and experience – 2 pages max.)
  • A sample syllabus of 2 potential original modules that could be offered in a research-led context plus a separate list specifying areas of expertise that could be covered in terms of research-informed teaching in the field of Early Irish language and texts.
