The Lead Oracle Business Intelligence / Reporting Developer provides leadership and technical expertise to a small team of Business Intelligence/Report Developers who support, develop, and enhance the use of People & Money reporting across the University.  The reporting team deliver a wide range of technical solutions across the Oracle Cloud suite, working on multiple projects and support tasks in parallel, ensuring that customer requirements are understood and that solutions are fit for purpose.

The Reporting lead will work with colleagues in the People and Money team, HR and Finance Teams, and reporting professionals across the University to deliver effective reporting capabilities, dashboards and quality information that enables better decision making. 

The post is open ended and the successful candidate will report to the Head of the People & Money Service.

What the job involves:

  • Responsible for the design, development, testing and support of reports as part of the People & Money service within the Oracle cloud solution. Translating user and management reporting requirements from across the University into reports, dashboards and visualisations that meet these requirements maximising use of pre-delivered reports and leveraging development already completed.
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders and business services to understand the reporting requirements, needs and landscape of operational reporting. 
  • Liaising and working closely with technical staff, the P&M Solution architect and the Integration Architect to ensure core system strategies and integration tools are part of any reporting solutions.
  • Actively contributing to the development, continuous improvement, and enhancement of existing systems and reporting solutions.
  • Supporting and enhancing existing customer reports and leading on resolving any issues that may occur, by providing user focused, consistent, and standardised reporting solutions. 
  • Creating appropriate documentation such as requirements, detailed analysis, technical documentation, or user guides.    
  • Collaborating with external partners to provide solutions as functional and technical bugs are encountered.

A bit about you:

  • Extensive experience of delivering BI Publisher reports, OTBI or other reporting tools.
  • Experience of handling confidential and sensitive information and awareness of data security best practice.
  • Demonstrable experience of adopting innovative business and technical perspectives to deliver value to end users.
  • Proven experience of working with end users to produce business requirements. 
  • Excellent technical skills with the demonstrable ability to build complex components using PL/SQL and SQL.
  • Excellent Communication skills (written and oral) with good attention to detail.
  • Ability to operate successfully in a multi-tasked environment, with periods of pressure.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving ability. Ability to use skills and experience to approach problem solving from new and innovative angle, often requiring lateral thinking.
  • Experience of establishing and leading BI/ Report development teams is highly desirable.
