Job Summary
The post is part funded by Insmed (a pharmaceutical company) to investigate long term clinical consequences of bronchiectasis on the risk of developing co-morbidities. The post will also involve exploring other aspects of bronchiectasis and wider chronic respiratory disease management. The study will utilise large datasets of linked electronic health records and the postholder will carry out data management and analyses of these data. In addition, he/she will be expected to submit publications to refereed journals, prepare study reports and present the findings. The postholder will also be expected to contribute to other projects within the group. This position would suit an early career data/epidemiology scientist with an interest in further career advancement.
The Respiratory Electronic Health Record group, led by Prof Quint, is a clinical epidemiology research group whose interests centre on using various sources of de-identified, routinely collected electronic healthcare records to study a number of respiratory diseases including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, interstitial lung disease, bronchiectasis and most recently COVID-19. Work centres on maximising the quality, linkage and usage of these data for clinical and research purposes. Research topics include understanding the relationship between cardiovascular and respiratory disease, respiratory disease prevention, diagnosis, natural history and management. Many of the outputs are used for informing policy, and in the planning and allocation of resources.

This post is full-time, fixed-term for 1 year and you will be based at White City Campus.
Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as a Research Assistant within the salary range £40,694 - £43,888 per annum.
