RCSI School of Pharmacy & Biomolecular Sciences (PBS) has recently established a Joint Educational Institute (JEI) with Soochow University (SUDA) in China. This new College, the International College of Pharmaceutical Innovation, represents a significant, and exciting, collaboration in China.

We are seeking applications for a full-time, Associate Professor role with the School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences to be the Education Lead for the JEI.  The appointee will join a growing team of academics within the School who will deliver the portfolio of programmes to students in both RCSI Dublin and SUDA.

The new College will deliver, in partnership with SUDA, three programmes which are currently delivered in RCSI.  These programmes are the BSc Advanced Therapeutic Technologies, BSc (Pharmacy) and a MSc by research.

Founded in 1900, SUDA is a research intensive university ranked in the top 5% of Chinese universities with a strong strategic focus on increasing its internationalisation and its rankings. SUDA is located in the city of Suzhou in the Jiangsu province and is a short train journey from Shanghai.  The Jiangsu province itself is a densely populated (80 million) and industrialised region neighbouring Shanghai. It is considered the most developed of the 22 provinces in China with the bio/pharmaceutical industry a major source of employment in the region.

Objective of this post:

Appointable at Associate Professor level, the main objective of the post is to lead the Academic programmes in the International College of Pharmaceutical Innovation, including contributing to the design, development, delivery and quality assurance of the School’s educational programmes. This exciting opportunity will require the successful candidate to spend approximately 16 weeks in China. This duration will be spread over the course of the year rather than one bulk period with travel and living expenses provided. During that timeframe the primary focus will be on academic leadership, programme delivery and module co-ordination while offering opportunities to develop and engage in research activities in a world class setting. The successful candidate will be provided with increased flexibility to further their research portfolio while in Dublin.

RCSI is seeking a professional who is passionate about the art & science of teaching, would like to experience working as an academic in a multicultural and international environment, who demonstrates initiative, openness and resilience.

Full details of the responsibilities of the role, and the person specification can be found here
