We are seeking to appoint an individual with strong organisational and communications skills, who takes pride in their job and is a team player. The postholder will support the laboratory activities of researchers and students, both undergraduate and postgraduate, ensuring that the laboratories are prepared for experimentation and are compliant with relevant Health and Safety policies and legislation. You will be required to help train others in core laboratory techniques in molecular biology, histology and neuroscience. The role will also include responsibility for setting up and maintaining a research laboratory store.
You must have excellent attention to details and should have practical experience of laboratory management/activities and a strong research background. The ability to provide laboratory H&S training and keep documentation up to date would be also desirable.
The ideal candidate will have a degree in Biology, Neuroscience (or similar) and/or proven work experience as a laboratory technician in biosafety level 2 (BL2). In addition, a sound knowledge of H&S matters as they relate to a laboratory environment is essential.
