We are open to discussing flexible working arrangements.

Do you want to be responsible for coordinating the Yorkshire and Humber regional hub for the national Climate Ambassadors programme? Do you want to recruit and support volunteer Climate Ambassadors as they engage with local education settings to help them develop and deliver Climate Action Plans?

The Climate Ambassador network was developed to harness the expertise of professionals working in climate research and policy to work with teachers and school leaders to improve climate education. To expand and accelerate the Climate Ambassador programme, we are establishing nine regional hubs across England. Each hub will recruit volunteer Climate Ambassadors to support education settings to develop and implement climate action plans. Climate Action Plans include action over: decarbonisation and energy efficiency; climate adaptation; biodiversity; climate education and green careers.

The Regional Hub Managers are critical to the success of the project. Their role has a dual function:

  • To understand their region’s needs and use these insights to shape the national Climate Ambassador programme;
  • To adapt national Climate Ambassador strategies and practices to their local region, delivering these to ensure engagement of education settings and volunteers.

You’ll be employed by University of Leeds to support the Yorkshire and Humber hub. You’ll work closely with the eight other Regional Hub Managers providing opportunities for co-developing and designing the programme and knowledge transfer.

You will have access to individual and team professional development activities. Our aim is for you to develop into a leader in climate and sustainability work in education.

A third of your role will be spent recruiting and supporting regional Climate Ambassadors from industry, academia, and society. You’ll expand the ambassador cohort, including recruitment, onboarding, and identifying, signposting, and delivering training opportunities for them. You'll attend regional events, visit employers, and hold meetings with potential ambassadors to support the achievement of engagement, quality and KPIs.

Another third of your role will be recruiting and supporting regional education settings to engage them in the project. You’ll use existing networks, and develop new ones across the region, to ensure good engagement across education settings.

The final third will be spent contributing to the national Climate Ambassador programme. This includes participating in team meetings to co-design the programme’s strategy; collect and report data to support evaluation of the project; and, engage in knowledge transfer within the national project team.
