Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity in our Digital Humanities Institute (DHI) for two Research Associates to join our team. With proven, exceptional research abilities in the field of digital humanities, you will be responsible for supporting colleagues in the development of one or more research themes by carrying out research related work including literature reviews, scoping work, horizon scanning, feasibility studies, pilot projects, grant application development, project administration, and workshop administration, and by undertaking single and jointly authored publications and conference presentations in line with the DHI’s publication plans.

We are looking for candidates who can evidence strong knowledge and understanding of one of the following two research themes:

  • Digital Colonial and Imperial Studies, with a focus on the following intersecting topics: colonial and imperial history; digital collections and archives; and digital mediation (of history and culture).
  • Visual Digital Humanities, with a focus on the following intersecting topics: visual objects of historical, cultural and/or artistic significance; computer vision; and semantic annotation. Visual objects might include maps, paintings, sculpture, film, monuments, built environments, and born-digital content (AI art, LIDAR etc).
