An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Research Associate to join the Norwich Clinical Trials Unit in the Norwich Medical School.

We are seeking a bright and motivated individual to join our team as a Research Associate. In this role, you will play a vital part in advancing clinical research by contributing to the success of two decentralised clinical trials (DCTs); EASE and TIPAL.

EASE (Evaluating Antidepressants for emotionaliSm after stroke) is a multi-centre, randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial to establish the effect(s) of administration of sertraline (50 mg once daily for Six Months) in people with a recent stroke and post-stroke emotionalism.

TIPAL (The effectiveness and risks of Treating people with Idiopathic Pulmonary fibrosis with the Addition of Lansoprazole) is a clinical trial of an investigational medicinal product: a phase III, randomised, placebo-controlled, two arm parallel group, double-blind, multicentre clinical trial.

You will be involved in various aspects of remote study management, including:

  • Remote recruitment: Identifying and engaging potential participants via telephone, email and virtual channels.
  • Data collection: Facilitating the collection of outcome measures using wearables, tablets, and other innovative technologies.
  • Patient support: Providing ongoing support and guidance to participants throughout the study via telephone, email, and virtual channels.
  • Data management: Assisting as required with data entry, quality control, and reporting.
  • Regulatory compliance: Ensuring adherence to all relevant research protocols and regulations.

What you'll bring:

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., healthcare, clinical research, psychology, biology) or equivalent qualification or experience.
  • Strong understanding of research methodology and clinical trial processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients and healthcare professionals remotely.
  • Proficiency in data management and analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with virtual platforms and digital communication methods.
  • A passion for innovation and a desire to contribute to the advancement of healthcare through DCTs.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. 

This full-time (minimum 0.8 FTE will be considered) post is available on a fixed term basis for two years. Appointment will be subject to a criminal record check at Standard level from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
