The Courtauld Institute of Art stands alone as an exceptional centre for the study of the history and conservation of art and architecture and houses a world-leading collection within its Gallery at Somerset House. Engaging with both students of art and a wide and diverse public audience, The Courtauld is founded on the belief that everyone should have the opportunity to engage with art. This is an exciting time for The Courtauld, with Mark Hallett’s appointment as the new Director, the beginning of Phase Two of the major transformation project Courtauld Connects, and the Institute’s Centenary celebrations in 2032 on the horizon.
The Courtauld is now seeking a new Director of Marketing and Communications to join the Senior Management Team and provide strategic leadership across marketing and internal and external communications for both the higher education institute and gallery. You will be integral to developing new press and social media strategies and identify opportunities to grow income. You will also play a key role in platforming The Courtauld brand and reputation across the arts and education sectors and share its mission with the academic community, alumni and visitors. The Director of Marketing and Communications will also help drive the Institute’s strategy for digital audience engagement and work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation to ensure projects and initiatives are shared broadly internally and externally.
The new Director of Marketing and Communications will need to be an ambitious and creative marketing and communications professional with experience working in Higher Education, arts, or a related environment. You will be an exceptional communicator and have a depth of understanding of integrated media and communications, including digital, and experience planning and delivering significant campaigns. The Director of Marketing and Communications will need to be credible and influential as an ambassador of The Courtauld. You will also share the values of The Courtauld and be able to communicate and champion these internally and externally.
The Courtauld Institute of Art is committed to equity and inclusion and welcomes applications from all individuals regardless of personal characteristics or background. We particularly welcome applications from people with disabilities, LGBTQ+, and black, Asian, and minority ethnic backgrounds in keeping with The Courtauld’s strategic plan and workforce diversity policies.
