Description of Post
This opening represents an opportunity for someone with a strong track record in applied physics and instrumentation, or a closely related field, to obtain an academic appointment in the Department of Computer Science & Applied Physics in the new Atlantic Technological University in Galway. Applicants should have a very strong interest in collaborative teaching and research and a passion for student development. The appointee to the post of Assistant Lecturer will have the complete range of skills to successfully provide lecture, tutorial and practical classes, and supervise project work, in the areas of applied physics/instrumentation/instrument & control systems at both undergraduate and post-graduate degree level within the School of Science and Computing. As a member of the appropriate programme board(s), the lecturer will participate fully in the academic and administrative work of the Department of Computer Science & Applied Physics and any other Departments, to which the lecturer may be assigned to, within the overall School. The lecturer will be expected to participate in teaching & learning, research, engagement and programme development initiatives within the Department of Computer Science & Applied Physics and the overarching School. Having satisfactorily completed a period of service at the Assistant Lecturer grade the appointee will progress to the Lecturer grade.
