The post
The Faculty wishes to recruit a Research Associate in statistics for HTA to support the work of Peninsula Technology Assessment Group (PenTAG). This externally grant-funded full-time post is available immediately through to 31st March 2027 with the potential for renewal depending on funding.

The successful applicant will support statistical aspects of clinical and cost effectiveness as part of health technology assessment projects.

Key tasks associated with this role include appraisal and development of network meta-analyses; appraisal of statistical methods used in clinical trials (in particular survival analysis and related methods); and working alongside health economists and economic modellers to develop and refine statistical inputs to economic models.

Critically, and as part of the evolution of PenTAG’s scientific direction, you will have a role to play in joining and developing grants and publications relating to HTA across a range of topics, both clinically oriented and public health-oriented. Supported by senior postholders in PenTAG, you will develop an independent profile of publications in medical statistics and HTA. If you do not have a PhD, these publications can potentially form the basis of a PhD by publication or alternatively PenTAG are open to the pursuit of a PhD part-time via a more traditional route.

About you
The successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and be able to help prepare proposals and applications to external bodies.

Applicants will be educated to at least MSc level (or else already in possession of a PhD) and be able to demonstrate sufficient potential and knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes.

Please ensure you read the Job Description and Person Specification for full details of this role.
