The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) is one of the foremost social science universities in the world, with a global reach and an international student intake. The Student Wellbeing Service is central to the student experience: we aim to ensure that every student feels that they belong to a welcoming, inclusive, supportive, caring, scholarly community. SWS encompasses the provision of direct services to students which currently includes student disability, mental health and counselling support, proactive outreach to students to promote timely engagement with services, the development of effective peer and self-help, and community building activities to promote cross School student wellbeing (including trainings, workshops, and other engagement activities).

We are seeking a Head of Wellbeing Team to lead and deliver our wellbeing provision within Student Wellbeing Service. The Head of Wellbeing Team role will support the Deputy Head of Student Services (Wellbeing) in implementing the overall strategic intent for student wellbeing across the School and within SWS. The Wellbeing team is students’ first point of entry into the Service. They team triages students, signposting them to services within the wider SWS team, the School, or appropriate external services. The Head of Wellbeing Team will also lead on coordinating the proactive work of the team, organising workshops, trainings, and other outreach events. The postholder will work with other managers within the team to ensure an integrated range of services to students.

The successful post-holder will be an individual with experience working with individuals experiencing mental health difficulties, excellent organisational and problem solving skills, personal resilience in managing conflicting demands and implementing change, and strong leadership skills to be able to manage and develop a team and support staff working under pressure. They will hold an honours degree or equivalent relevant experience. The ideal candidate will have previous experience of working with university students.

We offer an occupational pension scheme, generous annual leave, hybrid working and excellent training and development opportunities.

As an equal opportunities employer, we welcome applications from Women and Black, Asian, Minority, Ethnic (BAME) backgrounds as they are currently underrepresented at this level in this area. All appointments will be made on merit or skill and experience relative to the role.

For further information about the post, please see the how to apply document, job description and the person specification.

We will be running an informational webinar on Wednesday, 27 March from 17:00-17:45 GMT.
