Are you interested in working as part of a collaborative team to understand the physics of metal halide perovskites and leverage that understanding to develop the next generation of high efficiency solar cells?

Applications are invited for a Research Associate who will work on an exciting new EPSRC project to understand the electronic structure of wide bandgap metal halide perovskites.  The aim of this project will be to further our understanding of structural defects in metal halide perovskites and use this to improve the performance of solar cells based on these materials. The successful applicant will be joining a small, but growing, research group and will work closely with a multidisciplinary team including the group leader Dr Alex Ramadan, PhD students, and collaborators based in the UK and internationally.

Applications are strongly encouraged from individuals who may not meet all requirements but who are passionate about developing renewable technologies and have expertise in an area of semiconductor characterisation (whether chemical, material, or photophysical). You will be working as part of a collaborative and supportive team which prioritises open science and inclusivity alongside research and innovation. There is funding attached to this position to attend conferences and undertake research visits. Your professional development will be prioritised with the potential for project student supervision and leadership of research projects alongside protected days for professional development courses which suit your chosen career path.

You will have or be close to obtaining a PhD or equivalent experience in either Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science or a related discipline.  You will also have expertise in at least one of the following advanced characterisation techniques: atomic force microscopy, photoluminescence spectroscopy, photophysical spectroscopy, photoelectron spectroscopy, x-ray diffraction.
