The laboratory of Dr. Jeanne Salje at the Cambridge Institute for Medical Research (CIMR), University of Cambridge, is seeking a highly motivated and talented Postdoctoral Fellow to join their team. The successful candidate will work on developing and generating arthropod models to study host-pathogen interactions of Rickettsiales bacteria, as well as optimising experimental protocols for the maintenance and manipulation of arthropod vectors. The post holder will be expected to perform molecular biology techniques including cloning, DNA manipulation, PCR, and to analyse experimental data, interpret results, and contribute to publications and presentations. You should also have the ability to characterize host-pathogen interactions using microscopy, molecular assays, and other relevant techniques. 

All applicants should hold a PhD in microbiology, genetics, molecular biology or a related discipline. Collaborating with other members of the research team to achieve goals, and contributing to the training and supervision of technicians, graduate and undergraduate students are key responsibilities for this role. A proven track record of scientific productivity is essential and you will have strong organisational and communication skills with the ability to effectively prioritise lab duties, both independently and as part of a team. 

This position is graded on the University's Grade 7 scale, for which the salary range is £36,024-£44,263 per annum. The actual starting salary offered will be based on qualification and relevant skills acquired and will be determined by the funding available. 

The Cambridge Institute for Medical Research (CIMR) is located on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus and it is a collaborative institute at the interface between fundamental research and the clinic, with a mission to determine the molecular mechanisms of disease in order to advance human health.

Fixed-term: This is a full-time, fixed-term position for two years, with the possibility of extension contingent on funding availability and performance.
