The role

We are looking to appoint a hardworking and enthusiastic individual to initially join the Bristol Medical School (BRMS) postgraduate student administration team as Deputy Student Administration Manager (DSAM). This role will have a focus to manage the delivery and training of student administration services and support the quality of the student experience as delegated by the Student Administration Manager.

This is an exciting opportunity to play an active role in the management of student administration and education processes related to undergraduate intercalated and postgraduate taught programmes within the School.

The successful candidate will work alongside the Student Administration Manager (SAM), and other DSAM’s across the medical school, as well as line manage members of the Student Administration Team.

The role is varied, fast paced and would suit a candidate who enjoys collaborative working, has a high standard of interpersonal skills, and is looking to broaden their management experience within education administration or looking to take a first step into a managerial role within a School Team.

You will be responsible for continuing the development of training tools for the postgraduate and undergraduate programmes in the Medical School and will work closely with the Student Administration Managers to identify training needs and train and support staff. You will also continue to develop and maintain an online repository of training provisions You will also be building networks to share and implement best practice across the school.

This role requires an individual to be both a manager and a team player, and to have the ability to balance both individual and team workloads. The ability to take initiative and be proactive is key – as is the ability to seek out and make improvements to a process. We are seeking someone able to work in partnership with academic and professional services staff to drive forward change and deliver effective, efficient processes, yet be flexible and adaptable to different situations. A strong commitment to Equality and Diversity is vital.
