Are you interested in a dynamic and forward-thinking role which has strategic importance?

Employability and placements are a key focus in the University education strategy and this role plays a crucial part in ensuring we meet those aims in a way which is right for our students and departments.

You will join the Faculty of Social Sciences Employability Team (part of our Education Team) which works with departments to embed employability in the curriculum whilst also providing an exciting offer directly to students via events, internships, and skill development opportunities. In the coming years we are looking to grow the number of students securing year-long placements and this role will work with both departments and employers on this achieving this aim.

This role involves working with internal colleagues and externals to:

  • Embed reflection in the curriculum
  • Embed work related learning in programmes
  • Highlight to students and staff where the Sheffield Graduate are developed in programmes
  • Contribute to the growth of year long placements

With responsibility for line management of our Employability Project Officer, you will also add substantial benefit to the strategic development of Cornerstone (the Employability and Placement Hub in the Wave) and our student facing programme of events, internships and employer partnerships.

In this role you will utilise and further develop skills such as: influencing, project planning, people and relationship management, seeing the bigger picture – plus many more!
