To create and contribute to the creation of knowledge by undertaking a specified range of activities within an established research programme and/or specific research project.

This is an exciting opportunity for a chemist to join a multi-disciplinary team, funded by the EPSRC project SONATA (UltraSOuNd-controlled release of Antimicrobial particles for denTAl tissues). In this project we develop luminescent modified nanoparticles for drug release triggered by ultrasound and study the localised drug delivery in tissues by imaging techniques. The approach increases efficacy and minimising the risk of antimicrobial resistance development.

We are looking for a research fellow, with interest in drug delivery and interdisciplinary projects working with microbiologists and bioengineering groups in imaging and studying biofilms and dental tissues.

The successful candidate will be based in Professor Pikramenou’s lab and will work closely with rest of the team on nanoparticles and a research fellow in oral microbiology.
