The new, independent North Wales Medical School (NWMS), supported by Coleg Cenedlaethol Cymraeg, is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced candidate for this new appointment. The School accepts its first intake to the independent NWMS programme in September 2024, whilst continuing to teach current students of the Cardiff University C21 North Wales Medicine programme. As the successful applicant, you will have a unique opportunity to lead and deliver medical education through the medium of Welsh, joining a growing, enthusiastic faculty team which includes many Welsh speakers.
This full-time* position aims to enhance teaching and pastoral support for medical students through the creation and promotion of new Welsh medium resources. Duties will primarily meet the requirements of our medical students with contributions to our other programmes (Physician Associate, Biomedical Sciences, Medical Sciences and Pharmacology). Interprofessional education is a strong, growing focus within the School which you will be expected to support. You will join a dynamic, supportive team and will be assisted with your professional development, with opportunities to pursue a postgraduate qualification and the Advance HE fellowship.
Fluency in written and spoken Welsh is essential.
The successful candidate will be expected to commence as soon as practicable and will be responsible to the Medicine Programme Lead and NWMS Dean. The post is based at our campus in Bangor, with occasional travel to clinical training sites and our Wrexham campus.
Through our ‘Dynamic Working framework’ there are options to spend some time working remotely within the UK to support work-life balance. *Fractional part-time appointments and Job Sharing arrangements will be considered and will be discussed at interview.
